ABOUT

Over the last month, Jam Films have been working with Virgin’s Startup Digital events division to create a series of six animated loops predicting the future of work in the next 20 years. Virgin has brought together some of the best minds in the world to form predictions around what will be happening in the next 20 years of business. Their secured contributors include advertising maverick Cindy Gallop, Futurologists James Bellini and Tracey Follows, Wired journalist & broadcaster Ben Hammersley, and Co-Founder of Blockchain Peter Smith.  They have been predicting the next emerging trends and opportunities for a thriving 2037 to skill up the next generation of business leaders.

The focus of these loops was to visualise some of the most interesting and audacious trends identified by big thinking contributors in an exciting and creative way illustrating the continuing evolution of business in a unique creative to drive awareness.

Christian Anderson-Ramshall, Head of Digital Production at Virgin Startup approached Jam after seeing Nicola Gastaldi’s loops, aka Gasta loops, resident Lead 3d & Motion Graphics Director at Jam Films. Both Christian Ramshall-Anderson and Ernestina Potts worked closely with Jam to guide creativity and the message that came from the contributors.   The focus of these loops was to visualise some of the most interesting and audacious trends identified by big thinking contributors in an exciting and creative way illustrating the continuing evolution of business in a unique creative to drive awareness.

Jam was delighted to work on this project. “It was fantastic to have creative freedom to explore the brief, art direct and choreograph scenes and translate the findings into moving image loops,”  says Gasta.   Using the iconic Virgin red, Gasta created a figurative and essential design, simple but effective, that would summarise a vast and complex concept into a tiny, but infinite 15-second animation. Reading the essays about the Future Visions, he found one common trait: all the futurologists believe (or want to believe?) that, even if technology will thrive and grow exponentially in our lives, the human aspect will always be the underlying pivot.  More to follow in the coming weeks.
